Australasian Brain Stimulation Meeting 2013 - a resounding success

The MAPrc Psychiatric Neurotechnology team recently hosted the inaugural Australasian Brain Stimulation Meeting 2013. Held on 25-26 July at the Alfred Medical Research Precinct, the conference was a resounding success, attracting over 130 brain stimulation researchers from around Australia and abroad. The diversity of research showcased was inspiring. Delegates were treated to expert presentations on cutting edge work in the application of non-invasive brain stimulation in motor neurophysiology, language mapping, cognitive neuroscience, neuroplastic modulation and therapeutic indications. In keeping with the conference theme 'Stimulating Connections' researchers from all disciplines came together to debate and discuss their work and many new collaborations were fostered. This was particularly evident at the conference social event, where academics from all fields came together and enthusiastically threw themselves into the Brain Stimulation Quiz and Brain Stimulation Joke Contest.

The Conference Organising Committee would like to thank all of the delegates for coming along, sharing their work and helping make ABSMeet 2013 such a fantastic event. Conversations are already in progress regarding a future conference and we look forward to coming together to discuss further developments in the field next time around.

MAPrc are grateful to the conference sponsors Sonoray, Symbiotic Devices, JLM Accuteck Health Care, Oz Health and ANT Neuro for helping make this excellent event possible.
