Social media and body image concerns in teenagers
The research of our NHMRC Early Career Fellow and Clinical Psychologist was featured in the Herald Sun, “Selfie surgery alarm: social media dysmorphia strikes teens”, on 5th December 2019 and she was interviewed on Radio 3AW on 6th December 2019. Dr Sharp and her research team found that taking selfies and using appearance-altering filters was prompting some teenagers to consider cosmetic procedures to look like their filtered selfies.
